Get Set for Holiday Partying

I don't know about you, but when the holidays roll around I shut down. It becomes far too overwhelming for me. Am I the only one who comes down with a seasonal holiday sickness? Don't get me wrong, I love all the decorations and the parties and the gifts and the festivities, but I don't like to put any of that together. I would rather look, admire, and revel in the beauty of the holidays and not actually roll up my sleeves and plan anything.
But, this year I am going to put together a lavish, yet inexpensive party for family and friends. Wish me luck. I'll need it.
Bed Bath & Beyond has put together a list of tips to enhance a holiday table that will surely help me. Maybe they'll help you, too.
- Color is Key! Start by choosing a color scheme that reflects the holiday. By simply changing the color of your table linens, you can dramatically change the mood of your table. For Thanksgiving, choose tones reminiscent of fall foliage such as brown, gold and burgundy. For holiday themes choose colors reflective of the holiday you are celebrating or choose silver and white for a winter wonderland. Use the colors you select in all of your elements: from
the tablecloth and napkins to the candles and flowers.
- Stepping Out. Be sure to incorporate elements of different heights on your table. In addition to tea lights or votives, use elegant tapered candles and stepped serving pieces. Choose a stepped server from the B. Smith With Style Home Collection that not only adds interest but has a small footprint to help save space on your table.
- Charge It Up! A truly easy way to enhance the china you already have is to add colorful beaded chargers. Layer them under a dinner plate and instantly upgrade the elegance of your presentation. The chargers are available in different seasonal colors such as red, gold or silver.
- Cover Up. Add chair covers to dining or folding chairs for a formal look. Plus you will help protect your chairs from food and spills. Or, add chair bows to dining chair backs for a sophisticated look. Available in sets of two, use them on all of your chairs, or just on your two end chairs depending on your desired level of decor.
- Finishing Touches. Simple additions can help pull it all together. For a fall feel, scatter deco fall leaves around the table. For a Christmas table, you may choose a more traditional holly themed cloth and table runner. For added drama, use two runners and arrange them in a "T" shape like a ribbon on gift box.
