Fifth Annual Turks and Caicos Conch Festival for Families

Turks and Caicos Islands, a burgeoning luxury Caribbean destination featuring world-class beaches, is home to the Island's most famous culinary extravaganza - the Fifth Annual Turks and Caicos Conch Festival.

This full day celebration is a great way for families to get together, relax and enjoy some rich culture and food. Visitors of all ages are invited to join locals, Nov. 29, 2008, on Providenciales' (Provo) powdery white sand beach to indulge in Turks & Caicos' unique flavors. The event, named one of the "Top 10 Festivals of the Year" by MSNBC in 2007, includes music, cultural activities and a cooking competition in honor of conch, a cultural icon and fundamental element of Caribbean cuisine. The day will be filled with events enjoyable for multiple generations including a conch recipe contest, native boat races, live music, a conch treasure hunt and a conch blowing contest.

For the adventurous families looking for an exciting excursion, travelers can also embark on full-day or half-day conch cruises where boat captains will first take guests snorkeling along the Islands' world-renowned barrier reef and then teach visitors how to free dive for conch, get the conch out of its shell, and prepare fresh conch salads, to be enjoyed during a Caribbean BBQ on an uninhabited island.

New Site: TheOnlineMom.com

Technology is advancing at breakneck speed and parents need to be well-armed in their knowledge of the latest tech trends for kids and teens. Our children, even though seemingly more knowledgeable at their age than we were as kids, are also at greater risk of danger, especially as the world gets smaller through technology and criminals have found ways to seduce youngsters via the Net.

A brand-new site, The Online Mom, helps parents stay current on the latest tech geared to kids and keeps them abreast of possible dangers lurking around cyber corners. One of the greatest appeals of The Online Mom, however, is it also talks about the advantages of technology for children; it's not all gloom and doom about technology on The Online Mom, which we appreciate.

On TheOnlineMom.com you can read articles written by tech experts explaining various technologies and e-trends such as social networking for children and the appeal of YouTube. Additionally, you can download a free guide to protecting your children online and join The Online Mom Leadership Council to learn how to educate your community about technology for children.

Sarah Palin Causes Stir on Mom Blogs

Leave it to a woman named to the Republican ticket to cause quite a stir among mom bloggers. Many wonder how in the world could Sarah Palin successfully balance being vice president of the most powerful country on the planet and help raise five children, one who happens to be 17 and pregnant and another who has special needs. And other moms see Sarah Palin as the right woman this country needs to push forward women's and mothers' issues.

The LA Times says
mom blogs were buzzing about Palin and the Richmond Times says stay-at-home mom bloggers are talking more about politics these days than potty-training.

In other mom blogging news: The Biz Reports talks about how to cash in on the mom bloggers craze and the furniture industry interviews Maria Bailey of BSM Media to find out how furniture execs and companies can best leverage the value of starting a conversation with mom bloggers. And, finally, the New York Times wrote a piece about mom bloggers who came together virtually to help a mom blogger and her husband who were in a plane accident.
